Stucco homes
There have been a few homes in the neighborhood that have been found to have a bit of moisture behind the stucco on the front of the homes. This stucco can be taken off, moisture problem fixed and a new front put on. Some of the homes have been able to work with the builder's insurance company (as it was covered under a 10 year builder's warranty on structure). When the home is re-done like this, it is better than new and normally has an additional 10 year warranty on the work. If you want more information, you can contact me confidentially. TP adventures
There was a TP'ing Thursday night 09/27/07 around 11:30pm at the Baumgartner house. Once it was discovered that we were being TP'ed. There was a bunch of cars leaving the neighborhood and some firecrackers. The home and trees were hit pretty good! Best I have ever seen. I forgot to take some pictures. The cleanup was done immediately, so it would not be there in the morning. Looks like about 50 rolls of TP. This is the danger of having kids grow up and becoming teenagers. We have asked our daughter to see if the culprit has any pictures.
We apologize for any disturbance the TP'ing or cleanup you experienced. Hopefully, this will be the last of it.
Thanks
Scott Baumgartner

Couple more reminders
Karen Telega forwarded the following information after the incident they experienced a week or so ago with someone in their garage. Here are a few experiences other neighborhoods in MG, however are again good reminders.
From a resident in the Teal Lake neighborhood off of County Road 30:
I don’t know what to make of this- but just now- I was outside getting ready to leave. I noticed a smaller Grey/Silver Chevy (like a Cobalt or Caviller) with a man inside matching the description below. He would drive into a cul de sac, drive up to a set of mailboxes and appear to write something down. He did this in our cul de sac, crossed into the next street and did the same. I followed him up into another cul de sac and did the same…but not at all mailboxes. I wrote down his license number and called the police. They ran it, and it came up as registered to someone in Minneapolis.
They showed up in under 4 minutes. The guy was still driving around, so it wasn’t hard to find him. The officer spent a good amount of time with him and ultimately, let him go. He explained to me that this guy was in the neighborhood for his job. He works for a company that teaches music lessons. He goes block to block jotting down addresses. Then, at some point, he parks his car and puts flyers on doors. The idea is that he gets paid for every homeowner that calls the company, off that flyer. (based on his address “list”).
The officer looked in the car and didn’t find anything, so he let him go.
He was a tall kid, 18-20, brown “hockey” hair…meaning he had on a baseball cap and it stuck out around it. He was white, and wore a grey muscle shirt. He was still in the Teal Lake neighborhood as of 230pm.
I think it’s worth a call. I wouldn’t bank on him living in Maple Grove either- some of the bikes that have been stolen from our area would be easily identified…hopefully no one is THAT stupid.
I’d mark your bikes too- even tape under the seat where no one would typically look.
From a resident in Tristan Bay:
We just had the police to our home in Tristan Bay to report a New 2008 Trek 3700 Bike Stolen out of our yard. This bike is White and Red and a 22 ½ in wheel. My son just got it for his birthday 2 weeks ago.
While talking to the police man, he said last night Tuesday 7-31 on the north side of County Road 30 north of Rice Lake Rd. There were 6 reports of car break in and damage to vehicles. Also on 101 & Zachary, 4 above ground pools were slashed.. He said the kids are working from about 12:00 am to 7:00 am.
The police said any suspicious activity or kids walking to call the police. He said if kids are out past midnight they are past their curfew.
We’ll I guess our lesson we learned is bikes must be in the garage at all times, keep garage doors closed, all vehicles must be locked at all times. Do not leave any type of value able in your car because they will smash your windows to get it.
Everyone please keep your eyes opened.

Attempted abduction - Please be aware
There have been many emails circulating about an attempted child abduction which happened this past Tuesday evening (July 31st) around 8:30 p.m. just a few blocks away on 78th Avenue. 78th Avenue is the newly opened road which connects Lawndale to 101 (right by Rush Creek), it goes right between Kilarney Glen and Donegal Ridge neighborhoods.
A young boy was riding his bike when a man approached the boy in his car and asked him to go with him to a gas station. The boy's older brother was also riding his bike and witnessed his brother talking to the man they did not know so went back to his brother and the boys went home. The police have been notified and are patrolling the area more heavily.
The description of the suspect/vehicle:
Suspect
Male, 20s, wearing a bandana
Vehicle
Small, light blue car similar to Toyota Tercel with a lot of rust
Please take the opportunity to discuss and review with your families.

Just an idea
Over the past month there have been quite a few things going on in our neighborhood which everyone should be aware of, most notably garage thefts. The folks who were the unfortunate victims thankfully notified neighbors via email to make them aware, but try as we might not everyone's email addresses are known.
The main purpose of this page is to have one common place to post items for all of the neighborhood to see. For example, a head's up on suspicious activity, our neighborhood's own Craig's list, or just general information.I also plan on adding pertinent Maple Grove links to the page as well.
If you would like to post something on the blog, it is so easy and there are a couple of options.

- You can sign up for a blogger account (no charge, nor do you need to set up your own blog) and then send me an email at schmidt672@hotmail.com so you are added to the blog author list. It is that simple.
- Or if you choose to not set up an account, please email the information you would like to share and we will get it posted.
Hopefully this will be a tool people can and will use, please forward any comments, feedback is greatly appreciated.
